2.4 GHz Wireless Network Settings

This name will be visible to devices searching for Wi-Fi
Channels 1, 6, and 11 are non-overlapping in 2.4 GHz

1 Configure the Network Name (SSID)

The SSID (Service Set Identifier) is the name that identifies your wireless network. When devices search for available Wi-Fi networks, this is the name they'll see.

Best Practice: Choose a unique SSID that doesn't reveal personal information (like your name or address). Avoid default names like "NETGEAR" or "Linksys" as they may be targeted.

Your Task: Change the SSID from the default "NETGEAR-5G" to a custom name. Click in the SSID field above and enter a new network name.

Configuration Complete!

You've successfully configured wireless security settings on the router.

Exam Tip: Remember the security evolution: WEP (weak, deprecated) → WPA (TKIP, improved) → WPA2 (AES, current standard) → WPA3 (SAE, most secure). Always recommend WPA2 or WPA3 for the exam!
