Welcome to the Traceroute Lab. Enter a target to trace the network path.

Each packet has a TTL value. Routers decrement it by 1. When TTL=0, the router sends back an ICMP "Time Exceeded" message, revealing its identity.

Traceroute sends packets with TTL=1, then TTL=2, etc. Each hop responds, mapping the entire path.

By default, 3 packets per hop measure latency variance. * * * means the router didn't respond (firewall or timeout).
