Part 1: Watch the Presentation

Watch the following video presentation where a security researcher demonstrates common hacking techniques. Pay close attention to:

Tools and techniques used to find vulnerabilities
How the attacker gains initial access
Privilege escalation methods
Data exfiltration or persistence techniques

Choose a video 15-30 minutes in length that demonstrates a complete attack chain.

Part 2: Analysis Questions

After watching the video, answer the following reflection questions. Your responses should demonstrate understanding of the techniques observed.

Reflection Questions

1. What video did you watch? Provide the title and a brief summary of what was demonstrated.

2. Reconnaissance: What information gathering techniques did the attacker use before attempting exploitation?

3. Initial Access: How did the attacker gain their first foothold into the target system?

4. What surprised you most about the attack? Was there anything you didn't expect?

5. Defense Perspective: If you were defending this system, what controls could have prevented or detected this attack?

6. MITRE ATT&CK Mapping: Try to identify at least 3 techniques from the video and map them to ATT&CK tactics (Reconnaissance, Initial Access, Execution, Persistence, etc.)

Part 3: Connect to Course Concepts

Relate what you observed to concepts covered in Week 1:

7. How did the attack demonstrate the importance of the CIA Triad? Which component(s) were compromised?

8. Based on what you observed, what type of threat actor might use these techniques? (Nation-state, hacktivist, insider, criminal, script kiddie)
